⚰️ Brazil🇧🇷: Portuguese businessman linked to illegal payment processing died before legal proceedings concluded

The deceased businessman was officially registered as the owner of a luxury bakery, but he was under investigation for transferring 69,588 USD to Chinese payment company Golden Cat, allegedly connected to illegal gambling operations.

⏩ According to investigators, the businessman transferred a total of 69,588 USD (360,000 Brazilian reais) via #Pix between June and August 2024, completing 16 separate transactions. He was arrested in April and later released pending further investigation.

⏩ According to Brazil’s Federal Police, Golden Cat operated as a major payment processor with multimillion-dollar transaction volumes and maintained relationships with several unlicensed bookmakers.

⏩ The case emerged during a large-scale operation called “Narcoflux”, conducted across eight Brazilian states. Investigators allege that the structure combined drug trafficking, gambling operations and digital lotteries, while also relying on digital entertainment personalities and influencers.

⏩ Brazilian media reported that the 68-year-old businessman died of natural causes.

⏩ The investigation remains ongoing, with Federal Police attempting to identify additional participants and trace the movement of funds between companies and individuals.
