๐Ÿ“ฐ Updates for Colombians ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ด: Gambling sector tax can rise from 20% to 25%

The Colombian government has presented a financing bill for 2025, which includes a tax reform, to Congress.

๐Ÿ’ก For online gaming, which has so far been exempt from sales tax, a 19% VAT will now be applied (in addition to the 12% mandatory tax already paid by operators). The regulator expects to collect 12 billion Colombian pesos (2.88 million USD).

๐Ÿ’ก The government statement notes that "applying VAT to online platforms creates a level playing field, promoting fair and balanced competition among all operators, regardless of the channel they use to offer their services.โ€

๐Ÿ’ก Interesting fact: In 2023, the Colombian online gaming market registered 1.5 million users, a number that continues to grow. By 2027, the sector's penetration rate is expected to reach 3.8%, representing a 2.5% growth over the last 10 years
