๐Ÿ“ข South Korea ๐Ÿ‡ฐ๐Ÿ‡ท: digital residence cards for foreigners introduced

South Korea has launched a digital identification document that can be stored and used directly from mobile phones. The app, developed by the Ministry of the Interior, is compatible with both iPhone and Android devices.

โžก๏ธ The digital cards are available for both new residents and those with physical residence cards issued before 2025. However, individuals with a physical card must visit an immigration office, scan a QR code using their smartphone, and complete the activation process.

โžก๏ธ Each digital card can only be linked to one device, and it will automatically be locked if the phone is lost.

โžก๏ธ Additional requirements: Foreign residents must use a phone registered under their name and be at least 14 years old to access the digital card.

โžก๏ธ Digital cards can be downloaded via the official "Mobile ID Card App", created by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
