📢 South Korea 🇰🇷: digital residence cards for foreigners introduced

South Korea has launched a digital identification document that can be stored and used directly from mobile phones. The app, developed by the Ministry of the Interior, is compatible with both iPhone and Android devices.

➡️ The digital cards are available for both new residents and those with physical residence cards issued before 2025. However, individuals with a physical card must visit an immigration office, scan a QR code using their smartphone, and complete the activation process.

➡️ Each digital card can only be linked to one device, and it will automatically be locked if the phone is lost.

➡️ Additional requirements: Foreign residents must use a phone registered under their name and be at least 14 years old to access the digital card.

➡️ Digital cards can be downloaded via the official "Mobile ID Card App", created by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
