๐Ÿ“ฑ PayPal sanctions Russia ๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡บ: a fee for inactive accounts is implemented

On September 16, PayPal announced a "policy update" for users in the Russian Federation, which includes a new fee for inactive accounts.

๐Ÿ”ฃ The fee will be 3,500 rubles annually (or the available balance if lower) and will apply to both merchants and consumers. If the account has no funds, no charge will be incurred.

๐Ÿ”ฃ An account will be considered inactive if it has not recorded any activity for 12 months or more.

๐Ÿ”ฃ The new policies will take effect on October 7.

๐Ÿ”ฃ Additional fact: Although the measure has faced criticism, other countries like the United Kingdom ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง have already implemented similar charges for inactive accounts since 2020, although the amount is lower: around 9 British pounds, equivalent to about 1,000 rubles.
