🪓 Pakistan🇵🇰: rumors of mass layoffs at Easypaisa amid scandal over aggregator accounts used for illegal gambling

(However, the information has not been confirmed.)

🗣 According to available information, Pakistani fintech Easypaisa Digital Bank reportedly dismissed around 30 employees over irregularities involving aggregator account operations that served as channels for suspicious financial flows.

📌 The scheme: one employee allegedly created fake websites to test payment system integrations, allowing those involved to bypass compliance procedures. Fictitious corporate accounts were connected to offshore gambling platforms. The funds were then routed through swap accounts at Mobilink Microfinance Bank🇵🇰 before moving to Faysal Bank🇵🇰 and Dubai Islamic Bank🇦🇪.

🗣 In October 2026, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) uncovered the scheme, which reportedly processed around 10.5 million transactions worth more than USD 433 million. In addition to Easypaisa, another major local fintech company, JazzCash, was implicated in the case and forced to close more than 300 accounts. Law enforcement actions affected the Easypaisa ecosystem, with 6 payment intermediary companies facing settlement delays and blocks.

🗣 Notably, Easypaisa Digital Bank denies that mass layoffs took place, claiming that all employees who left the company did so voluntarily. However, insiders confirm that staff cuts occurred. What is happening at JazzCash remains unknown.
