🇨🇱 Chile made payment providers responsible for gambling VAT collection. Banks, card issuers and other financial institutions may be required to withhold 19% VAT from payments to foreign betting platforms that have not registered with the tax authority.


🇹🇭 Thailand tightened oversight of stablecoin and cash transactions. Regulators will scrutinise high-value USDT flows, large cash deposits and suspected mule accounts; banks reportedly froze around three million accounts during 2025.


🇵🇪 Peru introduced a unified framework for instant payments. Banks, fintechs and digital wallets will support 24/7 transfers through phone numbers, identity documents and QR codes, while identifier-platform operators will require central-bank licences.


🇹🇷 Türkiye froze 6,314 bank accounts in an illegal betting investigation. Authorities identified 19 alleged payment-processing centres handling bank accounts, cards and transfers linked to betting websites.


🇧🇷 Brazil increased pressure on fintechs linked to illegal betting and money laundering. Authorities are examining 37 companies, while banks must block suspicious transactions and close mule or transit accounts used by unlicensed operators.


📉 BitMEX announced that it will shut down on 23 September. New registrations have stopped, position reductions begin on 26 August, and customers have been advised to withdraw their funds before closure.
