😱Italy🇮🇹: The new licensing framework for online betting changes the game rules

The new concession is granted for a period of 9 years and will cost 7 million euros. This is 35 times (❗️) more expensive than the fee set in 2018.

➖ To combat unlicensed companies, the Italian Customs and Monopolies Agency (ADM) will have the right to block payments.

➖ But that's not all. After tax payments, operators will also pay 3% of the annual gross gaming revenues (GGR).

➖ The Ministry of Finance justifies these measures by pointing to the changing market dynamics, where a limited number of large operators dominate: such as SNAI, Lottomatica (which acquired SKS365), Flutter and Entain. This approach aims to prevent future controversies with the Italian Customs and Monopolies Agency (ADM) concerning license renewals.

➖ ...However, operators seem to be not satisfied with the situation. The Italian Online Gaming Association believes that the increase in commissions will further limit competition. In addition, licensing conditions limit providers to a single website and a single application for each gaming product. Affiliated skins sites are not allowed.
