Individuals impersonating the FBI are notifying Tron users that they are allegedly under investigation and must complete a verification process to avoid having their assets frozen.

💠 The FBI issued a warning advising users to exercise caution if they encounter a token bearing the agency’s name or insignia, and strongly recommended not providing personal information on websites associated with such assets.

💠 Background: in 2024, the FBI developed an AI-based “trap token” to identify market manipulation schemes. The token, known as NexFundAI, was designed to detect actors involved in “pump and dump” schemes. This precedent may have been leveraged by those behind the current fraudulent activity.

💠 Context: in April, the FBI reported that in 2024 it received over 140,000 complaints related to cryptocurrency fraud. As a result, losses reached USD 9.3 billion, representing a 66% increase compared to the previous year.
