💴 Azerbaijan🇦🇿: UnionPay expands its partnership with the Bir financial ecosystem
Azerbaijan is further strengthening its integration with international payment networks through the expansion of the partnership between UnionPay International and the Bir financial ecosystem, as China🇨🇳 continues to broaden its footprint in the regional payments market.
📌 The partnership provides Azerbaijani consumers with broader payment capabilities and access to additional financial services.
📎 Following the successful completion of the first phase of integration, UnionPay cardholders can already make online purchases at more than 1,000 merchants and withdraw cash from 1,300 ATMs operated by Birbank, the banking institution within the Bir ecosystem.
📎 In the next phase, Birbank will expand UnionPay acceptance across its point-of-sale (POS) acquiring network. Customers will subsequently be able to use physical UnionPay cards at merchants nationwide and transfer funds directly to UnionPay cards.
📎 The long-term objective is for Birbank to support UnionPay across all of its major acceptance channels, including ATMs, e-commerce platforms, POS terminals, and mobile POS devices, creating a fully integrated payment acceptance infrastructure.
