🏴‍☠️ “X” and scams: fake accounts on the former Twitter spread malware

Cybercriminals are impersonating well-known crypto figures to comment on popular posts and redirect users to fraudulent Telegram groups. One tactic involves contacting victims as fake "Coinbase support agents."

▶️ The scammers offer “investment ideas” or “alpha tips” to entice people into joining these fraudulent groups. Once inside, users are asked to complete a verification process via a bot called OfficiaISafeguardBot.

▶️ This bot creates a false sense of urgency, pressuring victims to complete the verification quickly. During the process, it injects malicious PowerShell code into the user's clipboard. Once executed, this code downloads fraudulent software designed to hack the system and steal sensitive data, including cryptocurrency wallet credentials.

▶️ In the first week of December, the number of fake crypto-related accounts surged to 300 daily, compared to 160 per day in November.

This is not just phishing—it’s a much more sophisticated attack. Stay vigilant!
