🎉 Western Union to launch its own stablecoin on the Solana blockchain by summer

The token will be called USDPT, and the integration of the new APIs will be handled by Crossmint 🇺🇸, a developer of infrastructure solutions for stablecoins.

📌 Western Union first announced its plans to issue a proprietary stablecoin in October 2025. The choice of Crossmintas the implementation partner reflects the scale of its platform, which currently serves more than 40,000 clients and provides services such as smart wallets, on- and off-ramps, as well as stablecoin management across multiple blockchains.

📌 The Western Union digital asset network will allow users to convert USDPT into local currencies at 360,000 cash payout locations across 200 countries and jurisdictions.

📌 Context: in 2024, global remittance volumes reached approximately 905 billion USD, while the average cost of sending 200 dollars abroad remained around 6%. Under these conditions, reducing the cost of international transfers remains an important issue for users.
