😎 Visa and Bridge will expand the stablecoin-based card issuance programme to more than 100 countries by the end of the year
The expanded cooperation includes on-network settlement for Visa card transactions.
It is worth noting that Visa currently has more than 175 million merchant locations worldwide, while Bridge develops stablecoin infrastructure already used by Phantom and MetaMask.
🔣 The new functionality is the result of a partnership between Bridge and Lead Bank🇺🇸, which provides a Banking-as-a-Service (BaaS) platform. Through this infrastructure, fintech companies can integrate banking services directly into their products without the need to obtain their own banking license.
🔣 At present, the partnership’s pilot project operates in 18 countries. The evaluation criteria include increased operational efficiency through blockchain-based data reconciliation, as well as optimization of blockchain interaction for institutional participants.
🔣 The expansion is planned for Europe, the Asia-Pacific region, Africa, and the Middle East. The specific countries have not yet been specified.
🔣 In the future, Visa is considering supporting assets issued through Bridge in new payment flows… however, the timeline for this phase has not yet been determined.
🐦⬛️🐦⬛️🐦⬛️ Additional note: in December 2025, Bridge was acquired by the mega-fintech Stripe… which may benefit from several advantages resulting from this initiative.
