Customers of Itaú can now use Google Pay for NFC payments, but this feature is currently available only on Android devices.

🔣 The digitalization of debit, credit, and prepaid cards is done through the Wallet app. All you need to do is select the "Add to Wallet" option. Verification is carried out via SMS code or phone call.

🔣 Apple Pay is also available for Apple users at the bank, launched in December 2024.

🔣 Fun fact: Google Pay arrived in Uruguay six months ago, not through banks, but thanks to the local fintech Midinero, which integrated Mastercard prepaid cards.

🔣 Context: In recent years, the Central Bank has encouraged the use of electronic transfers, reaching more than 2.74 million instant interbank transfers per month in October 2024, compared to just over 42,000 transactions in January 2022.
