💀Ukraine🇺🇦: PlayCity regulator has already blocked over 1,300 illegal casinos

The new Ukrainian regulator is determined to prove its efficiency and adherence to regulations.

▶️The Economic Security Bureau (BEB) is currently investigating nearly 80 criminal cases related to the illegal organization or operation of gambling and lotteries.

▶️Crackdown on slot machine and sports betting advertising is also part of the agenda. Recently, PlayCity fined the official sports news portal dev.ua for indirectly mentioning, in the announcement of a boxing match with Oleksandr Usyk, a sponsor linked to the gambling sector. The portal strongly disagreed with the sanction, stating that the publication was non-commercial and that, by this logic, even job postings mentioning casino brands could be fined. Dev Ukraine LLC will challenge PlayCity's decision in court.

▶️Another key task for the regulator is clearing the market of casinos with Russian ties. PlayCity, in close cooperation with law enforcement, will work to impose sanctions and revoke licenses of operators connected to the Russian Federation🇷🇺.

▶️Relevant fact: in the first half of 2025, Ukraine’s state budget received over 9 billion hryvnias (USD 217,095,570) from legal casinos. The regulator is eager to see this figure rise with the clampdown on illegal gambling.
