🐸 The United States🇺🇸 imposes sanctions against all major Iranian🇮🇷 cryptocurrency exchanges
The United States has imposed sanctions on Nobitex, Wallex, Bitpin, and Ramzinex, four of Iran’s leading cryptocurrency exchanges. According to U.S. authorities, these platforms collectively account for approximately 72% of the digital assets entering the Islamic Republic.
➡️ According to the U.S. Department of the Treasury, all four platforms were used by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and affiliated ransomware groups, including activities aimed at circumventing international restrictions.
➡️ According to ministry data, more than half of all cryptocurrency transactions conducted in Iran during 2025 were processed through Nobitex.
➡️ The sanctions also extend to Nobitex’s leadership, including one of its co-founders as well as current and former chief executives. As a result, all assets and property interests of designated individuals that fall under U.S. jurisdiction will be frozen. The measures likewise apply to entities that are owned, directly or indirectly, by sanctioned persons at a level exceeding 50%.
➡️ The United States also warned that foreign cryptocurrency exchanges, P2P platforms, digital asset service providers, and stablecoin issuers that continue facilitating transactions involving Nobitex, Wallex, Bitpin, or Ramzinex could become subject to secondary sanctions or other regulatory restrictions.
➡️ In parallel, the U.S. Department of State announced a reward of up to 15 million USD for information leading to the identification, disruption, or dismantling of cryptocurrency-related financial networks associated with the IRGC.
