🫦The European Payments Council plans to launch an anti-fraud platform with a female name
The European Payments Council has unveiled FRIDA (Fraud Information Distribution Arrangement), a new initiative aimed at strengthening fraud prevention and information-sharing across the European payments ecosystem. The project is designed around a network of trusted organizations responsible for the platform’s development, maintenance, and ongoing operation.
🟠 To advance the initiative, the EPC has issued a Request for Information (RFI). FRIDA is expected to be fully operational by the second quarter of 2028, aligning with the entry into force of the Payment Services Regulation (PSR). The regulation introduces more stringent anti-fraud obligations, requiring payment service providers to take greater responsibility for transaction monitoring and to share fraud-related information with other PSPs, in line with Articles 83 and 83a.
🟠 At present, FRIDA and the RFI process are being handled by a specially established working group. A preliminary architectural model has been defined, based on a central hub or platform that connects all relevant stakeholders.
🟠 Through the RFI, the EPC is inviting qualified organizations to detail how they would operate and manage the central platform, whether by leveraging open-source information-sharing technologies such as MISP, or by deploying proprietary solutions offered by specialized technology providers.
🟠 The call for submissions from interested parties was formally opened on January 28.
