The company, widely known for its BNPL service, has launched instant peer-to-peer payments in 13 European countriesand is strengthening its positioning as a digital banking platform.
🔣 The new feature allows customers to send money to other individuals —such as splitting expenses or making personal transfers— directly from the Klarna app. Transfers can be made using a phone number, email address, QR code, or saved contact.

🔣 Context: the launch comes amid strong growth in Klarna Balance, with customer deposits rising from USD 9.5 billion to USD 14 billion over the past year, as well as the rapid adoption of the Klarna Card, which reached 4 million users within its first four months on the market.
🔣 Next steps: Klarna plans to extend the service to non-Klarna users and enable cross-border payments. While transactions are currently processed through traditional banking infrastructure, the company is also exploring stablecoin-based solutions as part of its longer-term technology roadmap.
