Welcome bonuses to attract players had been banned until April 2024, when the Supreme Court annulled several articles of Royal Decree 958/2020, including the one restricting such advertising incentives.

The Directorate General for the Regulation of Gambling (DGOJ) reported that 459,266 new players registered during the year, bringing the total number of active players to 1,991,550.

▶️Statistical data from the annual report:

👉8 out of 10 players are men (83.15% vs. 16.85% women). 85.70% are between 18 and 45 years old.

👉In 2024, online gambling in Spain generated a GGR of €1,454.59 million, representing a 17.61% increase compared to the previous year.

👉By segment: online casinos €730.3 million (50.23%); betting €608.85 million (41.86%); online poker €100.08 million (6.88%); bingo €14.94 million (1.06%).

▶️The Ministry of Social Rights, Consumer Affairs and 2030 Agenda has proposed an amendment to the upcoming “Customer Service Law” to reinstate the welcome bonus ban, enshrining it in the new legal framework.
