💃 Spain🇪🇸: combined deposit limits will be introduced for the same player across online casinos and sports betting websites

The measure is presented as an advanced strategy to give players greater control over their spending and reduce the risk of exceeding limits when switching between gambling platforms.

😀 Standard deposit limits: the limits will be set at €700 per day, €1,750 per week, and €3,300 over a four-week period. These thresholds will apply to the total deposits made by each user across accounts with participating licensed operators, regardless of how many platforms they are registered with.

😀 Changes to the previous system: previously, deposit limits were generally set separately by each operator. This meant that a person with accounts on multiple platforms could potentially exceed the intended overall threshold by distributing deposits among different providers.

😀 New control measures:

🤡 Combined limits are not the only new initiative from Spain’s Directorate General for the Regulation of Gambling (DGOJ). A free digital portal for players will also be launched, allowing Spanish users to track their gambling activity through a centralized service.

🤡 The system will allow users to lower their limits, request an increase, or even request the removal of the applicable limit. The latter two types of requests will be processed within 3 business days. However, limit increases may only be requested once every 3 months.

😀 It is also worth noting🐦‍⬛️🐦‍⬛️🐦‍⬛️: the regulator emphasizes that the system is intended to complement existing operator-level controls, not replace them. Gambling companies will therefore continue to set their own deposit limits while taking centrally calculated data into account.
