⛔️Russia🇷🇺 Implements Ban on Crypto Exchanges

Earlier this month, President Putin urged lawmakers to break the deadlock and accelerate the adoption of the cryptocurrency mining law.

➡️ In response, lawmakers have stated that they will pass two cryptocurrency-related bills before the end of the current parliamentary session on August 5:
1️⃣ A small group of trading platforms will be moved to a special sandbox to circumvent sanctions (for cross-border payments).
2️⃣ All other platforms will be completely banned. Additionally, cryptocurrency advertising will be completely prohibited.

➡️ For domestic miners: there will be no restrictions on electricity volume for individuals. Previously, Putin stated that cryptocurrency mining accounts for 1.5% of total energy consumption in Russia. He also proposed granting regions the authority to impose local bans.

The mining bill and the separate bill on establishing the "sandbox" passed their first readings in the Duma. We'll see what happens next.
