☠️ Romania🇷🇴: a tool developed to identify “mirror” sites led to 800 domains being added to the gambling blacklist

Over the past year, the regulator (ONJN) added more sites than during the previous 12 years. Polymarket was among those affected.

▶️ Government Ordinance No. 77/2009 provides that remote gambling platforms that have not paid licensing and authorization fees or other amounts owed to the state budget, as well as companies that facilitate unauthorized activities, may be placed on the blacklist until the situation is clarified.

▶️ The blacklist serves as an official register, with each entry approved by the ONJN Supervisory Committee and published on the regulator’s website, together with appendices containing the list of affected domains.

🟡 The country operates a geolocation system for gaming machines.

🟡 Funding has been allocated to the Romanian Authority for Digitalization to develop new monitoring tools.
