🏴‍☠️ Revolut🇬🇧🇱🇹 confirms personal data breach

Scammers sent a request from the email domain of an unnamed government agency.

➡️ On September 12, 2026, Revolut published a statement stating that customers' personal data had been provided to an unauthorized third party as a result of fraudulent email requests.

🔻 The emails passed standard authentication checks (SPF, DKIM and DMARC) and were treated as official requests.

🔻 KYC data belonging to approximately 680 customers was compromised, including dates of birth, email addresses, phone numbers and copies of identity documents.

🔻 Revolut's systems and customer funds were not affected.

➡️ The attackers are demanding 10,000 BTC (USD 768 million) from Revolut in exchange for not publishing the stolen data. On September 13, documents appeared online belonging to the CEO of Gamdom and Skins.com, Felix Römer, and tennis player Alexander Shevchenko. The attackers have threatened to publish new data every day until Revolut pays the demanded amount.

➡️ Context: Revolut is a British fintech company operating in the EU through subsidiaries in Lithuania. It was founded in 2015 and is considered one of Europe's leading digital banking companies. At the time of the data theft, the company was preparing for an IPO, with an estimated valuation of around EUR 172 billion. The breach could affect Revolut's reputation and have implications for the public offering of its shares.
