😎 Reform of Spain’s🇪🇸 Gambling Act: public consultation process continues

As part of the public consultation launched in May, Spain's Directorate General for the Regulation of Gambling (DGOJ) is reviewing 50 proposals submitted by industry representatives to amend the 2011 Gambling Act.

➡️ Among the measures being considered by the Ministry of Social Rights, Consumer Affairs and Agenda 2030 — which oversees the DGOJ — is the introduction of new restrictions on gambling advertising and promotion by influencers and celebrities. The proposal was discussed with the Spanish gambling industry association Jdigital.

➡️ During discussions with the Spanish Association of Gaming and Entertainment Venue Operators (ANESAR), concerns were also raised regarding:

🟡 possible regulatory disparities across commercial channels, as state lotteries and land-based casinos are subject to different requirements from those imposed on private online operators.

🟡 the possible introduction of biometric verification systems and other anti-fraud measures for accessing gambling platforms.

➡️ The public consultation process will continue until October.
