📣Paraguay🇵🇾reduces card service fees to stimulate the sector

A new resolution from the Central Bank introduces a gradual reduction in the maximum percentage of intermediary fees on electronic payments made with credit and debit cards.

➡️The reduction will be implemented gradually, allowing issuers and operators time to adapt to the new framework.

Currently, 18 sub-acquirers operate in the Paraguayan market, with some charging commissions of up to 8%.

➡️ Since the resolution went into effect, the maximum commission per transaction is 4% for credit cards and 3% for debit cards. However, starting July 1, 2026, these will be reduced to 3% and 2%, respectively.

➡️Fact: The Brazilian system #PIX🇧🇷 (instant payments), which also operates in Paraguay, is not included in this regulation.
