😱Once in Latam: most gambling companies published their Q2 results

In short, Brazil🇧🇷 and Mexico🇲🇽 are leading, while Colombia🇨🇴 and Peru🇵🇪 face challenges due to tax pressures.

➡️In Brazil, gambling and betting have been regulated for 8 months, and so far things are progressing smoothly. It is currently the fastest-growing market in the region.

👍Example: Flutter Brazil saw its Q2 revenue grow by 144%, reaching USD 44 million.

👍UK-based Entain reported a 21% increase in net gaming revenue in H1.

👎The challenge: the illegal market is growing alongside the regulated one. If taxes rise from 12% to 18% and advertising restrictions are imposed, regulation may lose its appeal.

➡️ As a result, Codere is cautious about Brazil and is focusing on Mexico, where, despite a 19% depreciation of the peso, the company increased net revenue and grew its active customer base by 36% compared to the same period in 2024.

➡️ For Betsson, LatAm accounted for 28% of Q2 revenue, with Peru and Argentina🇦🇷highlighted as key markets. However, Peru is considering raising the gambling tax from 12% to 20%, which would affect profitability.

➡️In Colombia, the issue lies not with gambling-specific taxation but with the “temporary” 19% VAT, valid until the end of this year, which is proving burdensome.
