Gibraltar is a British territory🇬🇧, although Spain maintains its own claims to sovereignty over it.

The announcement is part of the international expansion of the British-Lithuanian fintech company, which plans to offer cryptocurrency services in “new international markets,” although the specific markets have not yet been disclosed.

➡️ According to the company, Revolut has more than 80 million retail customers worldwide, of whom approximately 16 million use cryptocurrency services.

🧬 In the United Kingdom, Revolut operates cryptocurrency services through “Revolut Ltd.”
🧬 In the European Economic Area, where its activities are regulated under MiCA, it operates through “Revolut Digital Assets Europe Ltd.”
🧬 In Gibraltar, the Gibraltar Financial Services Commission (GFSC) granted a distributed ledger technology (DLT) provider license to the newly established subsidiary “Revolut Global Digital Assets Limited.”

➡️ The Gibraltar license follows in-principle approval to provide cryptocurrency services in Dubai🇦🇪 in July, as well as preliminary conditional approval from US🇺🇸 regulators in September to establish a national bank that would offer digital asset custody and cryptocurrency payment services.
