🍄 Ukraine🇺🇦: the national police prepares a bill to criminalize "drops"

Since the Rada expanded the powers of the National Bank of Ukraine to combat "drops", the number of reported fraud cases has dropped by 36,000, compared to the figures from 2023. However, there is still room for improvement.

➡️ In Ukraine, "drops" are implicated in 70% of financial fraud cases. The National Police and the National Bank are currently working on establishing a special registry of "drops".

➡️ The activities of "drops" will be prosecuted under Article 200 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (CCU) or Article 209 of the CCU, even if the cardholder claims ignorance of their involvement in the scheme. Additionally, authorities plan to adopt measures inspired by international best practices to shut down fraudulent call centers, while assuring that these actions will not significantly affect PSPs (payment service providers).
