💯 Google agrees to host regulated Brazilian🇧🇷betting apps

Google Play will offer applications for betting, gambling, and fantasy games. However, operators must have a valid license in Brazil to advertise via Google Ads.

➡️ Background: Betting operators had previously appealed to the Secretariat of Prizes and Betting within Brazil’s Ministry of Finance to intervene with Apple and Google, as the two tech giants dominate the mobile operating system market in the country. Until now, Google prohibited betting apps in the Play Store, although it allowed their advertising on YouTube. There were also reports of deceptive practices, such as apps disguised as children's games redirecting users to fraudulent gambling sites.

➡️ Outcome: Google has announced it will revise its gambling policy in Brazil and implement specific requirements. Operators must be properly registered and submit detailed information about their app to Google.

➡️ The publication request must include a visible and functional link to the company’s official website. Only through this link will users be able to access the app’s page in the online store, whether Google Play or another similar platform.

➡️The policy change applies to four categories of games: lotteries, horse racing, fixed-odds betting, and daily fantasy sports.
