🎉 More AI-driven payments: fintech giant Stripe🇺🇸launches the Link wallet for transactions powered by “intelligent” bots

The Link application, available on web, iOS, and Android, allows users to connect cards, bank accounts, crypto wallets, and BNPL services, while also storing payment credentials and shipping information for online purchases. However, the platform’s key differentiator is its architecture specifically designed for the authorization and management of AI agents.

💠 Stripe’s developers set the goal of protecting users’ personal data. For this purpose, they adopted the OAuth standard, where the payment process works approximately as follows: the user grants their bot access to Link, after which the bot can submit a spending request, provide contextual information, and wait for user approval — before any payment data is transmitted.

💠 At the infrastructure level, Link is built on the Stripe Issuing for agents product, which allows the creation of virtual cards for agent use with real-time authorization, spending controls, and transaction transparency. Users can either provide agents with programmatic access to Link — in which case a single-use virtual card is generated — or use a system based on Shared Payment Tokens (SPT) backed by payment cards or bank accounts.

💠 Stripe also stated that the platform is expected to support stablecoins in the future, although no official launch timeline has been disclosed. Future versions are also expected to allow users to define spending limits and custom rules under which AI agents will be permitted to operate semi-autonomously.
