💳💳 MoneyGram launches a stablecoin-backed card on the Visa network
The project was developed in collaboration with Rain, Crossmint and Stellar.
➡️ The card allows users to:
🔹 Hold a balance in dollar-pegged stablecoins;
🔹 withdraw cash;
🔹 make cross-border payments at physical and online merchants.
➡️ The card is designed as an extension of MoneyGram's money transfer capabilities rather than as a standalone product. It can be obtained through the MoneyGram app, where users can also manage their balance.
➡️ The card was developed in partnership with Rain, a provider of infrastructure for stablecoin-based cards. Combined with the capabilities of the Crossmint wallet and settlement through the Stellar network, this infrastructure provides immediate access to funds.
➡️ Format, features, availability and location:
🔹 The virtual card is already available in Colombia🇨🇴. MoneyGram plans to expand the product to other markets, although no specific timeline has been announced;
🔹 The physical version is expected to launch by the end of 2026;
🔹 The card can be added to Apple Wallet and Google Wallet;
🔹 Users can transfer funds from their balance to the card and withdraw cash in local currency at MoneyGram service locations.
➡️ Context: MoneyGram operates in more than 200 countries. It has more than 500,000 service locations and a digital network with billions of endpoints. In May 2026, MoneyGram entered into a partnership agreement with crypto exchange Kraken, allowing Kraken customers to cash out crypto assets in 200 countries using MoneyGram's infrastructure.
