⛔️ Moldova 🇲🇩: Suspension of "Zolotaya Korona" and Block on Transfers from Russia. 🇷🇺

Fearing secondary U.S. sanctions, as of September 6, the banks Comertbank, Fincombank, Eurocreditbank, and Energbank have ceased cross-border transfers from Russia. Transfers via “Unistream” were suspended in the summer of 2023, and those through “Contact” in February of this year. “Mir” cards are also not accepted.

⚡️ Now, transfers between Russia and Moldova via SWIFT are only possible with high fees, and the use of crypto remains a technically complex option.

⚡️ In Transnistria, the “Unistream” system and “Mir” cards continue to work through local banks. Gagauzia residents take advantage of this: they can even open a card remotely. However, for example, Promsvyazbank is blocked.

⚡️ Context: The Moldovan diaspora in Russia consists of approximately 200,000 people (with unofficial estimates around 250,000). They regularly send money back home.
