The card operator MIR and SBP have developed a payment method for iPhone purchases — without the need for Apple Pay.

➡️ According to NSPK, the solution, named “Ola”, will work via Bluetooth, allowing for contactless payments both online and offline. The technology offers payments within a short range of the terminal.

➡️ So far, 20 Russian banks have expressed interest in testing this innovation and incorporating it into their apps. Apparently, it is also compatible with Android phones.

➡️ However, as always, there’s a catch: special new terminals will be required for this feature to work.

➡️ And, speaking of terminals: the first ATM for “MIR” payment system cards has been installed in the capital of Nicaragua 🇳🇮, Managua. Although there are few Russians in the country, the government of this small Central American state hopes that this measure will help with dedollarization and possibly attract Russian tourists.

‼️ Currently, there is a 90-day visa regime for Russians, but the cost of flights limits the attractiveness of the destination: due to a lack of direct routes, a round-trip ticket costs no less than 200,000 rubles.
