🪓 Kazakhstan🇰🇿: case involving online casino payment infrastructure with a turnover exceeding 188 billion tenge (approximately USD 414 million) referred to court

A group of bank employees are suspected of servicing illegal casinos Nomadgames, Sultangames, and their mirror websites.

▶️ The Financial Monitoring Agency (AFM) uncovered a multi-layered scheme involving payment service providers, bank acquiring services, POS and internet terminals, electronic wallets, and cryptocurrency instruments.

▶️ Investigators allege that the suspects assigned incorrect MCC codes to internet terminals, connected the payment infrastructure, and bypassed mandatory contract checks. Under a fictitious contract, 10 billion tenge (approximately USD 22 million) was transferred to accounts belonging to a limited liability company under their control. The funds were then converted into cryptocurrency and transferred to the suspects’ wallets. Investigators also identified transfers totaling 19 million USDT.

▶️ Three people have been placed in pretrial detention, two were released on bail, and another two were ordered not to leave their places of residence. Authorities seized 3 apartments, 6 vehicles, bank deposits, and crypto assets worth a total of 1.4 billion tenge (approximately USD 3 million).
