⚡️Indonesia🇮🇩 takes action: regulator firmly restricts access to online gambling content

According to official statistics, since May 2023, the Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Kominfo) has restricted access to 596,348 websites and IP addresses, 173,134 Meta links, 29,257 file-sharing accounts, 5,993 Google and YouTube links, 367 X (Twitter) links, 170 Telegram links, 15 TikTok links, 8 App Store links, and 1 Snack Video link. In total, over half a million network elements.

➡️ As part of the initiative, also over 5,000 transaction methods have been tracked and restricted. All of this is due to the involvement of the Financial Services Authority of Indonesia in this battle.

➡️ Gambling, casinos, sports betting, bingo, and poker rooms have been banned in Indonesia since 1974. However, the recently inaugurated Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre (PPATK) published data indicating that the turnover of online gambling in this country in 2023 amounted to 200 trillion rupiahs (almost 13 billion US dollars). And that represents an impressive 2.5% of the GDP.

➡️ Furthermore, on September 6, 2023, the official YouTube account of the Indonesian parliament was hacked, and live gambling games were streamed. The official government account was also hacked. These repressive measures against the industry have become increasingly stringent.

...In summary, one would like to say, "You are an intimidating person, Minister of Communication and Informatics..." But it must also be acknowledged that "the other side" has lost its way somehow. In the end, it is the users who suffer. What are your thoughts on this?
