🏹India🇮🇳: In the battle for a spot in the financial arena, Google Pay introduces 6 new features

Google Pay is set to roll out six new features later this year, including UPI Circle and ClickPay QR.

▶️ The UPI Circle feature will allow citizens to make transactions without linking their own bank accounts.

▶️ Prepaid UPI (eRupi) vouchers, linked to users' mobile numbers, will be available in the Google app. These vouchers can be used in any app — including Google Pay — that supports the Unified Payment Interface UPI, again, without the need to link a bank account. This feature is the result of Google Pay's collaboration with the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) and the Department of Finance.

▶️ Another prepaid feature is designed specifically for paying utility bills using RuPay cards (the local card network) — directly through the Google app.

▶️ Google Pay users will also be able to pay bills via QR code.

▶️ Additionally, the Autopay feature for UPI Lite will enable automated payments, streamlining recurring and regular transactions.

▶️ Note for market observers: Google is intensifying its efforts as new competitors have recently entered the Indian payment market, such as Axis Bank Ltd, Navi, Flipkart, and others. For example, in June, Google Pay's market share declined from 37.18% to 36.76%.
