In the UK🇬🇧 NatCen will take the lead in assessing the "Gambling Act"
The UK Gambling Commission and the Department of Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) have commissioned the National Centre for Social Research (NatCen) to play the role of assessing the effectiveness of the "Gambling Act" (GAR) taking into account the amendments made in 2020.
➡️ The task is to determine whether there is a balance between consumer freedoms and the prevention of harm among vulnerable groups, as well as ensuring a consistent approach to the regulation of both online gambling and physical casinos.
➡️ According to the portal The London Economic, in 2023 the value of the gambling industry exceeded 14.3 billion pounds sterling, which is significantly higher than in previous years. This increase is primarily attributed to the growth of online gambling, which now represents more than 38.2% of the total market volume.
👉 Online casino revenues exceeded £3.2 billion pounds, with slots being the most popular game.
👉 Sports betting generated £1.9 billion pounds.
👉 The number of active online players in the UK reached 24.7 million, which is 6.2% more than in 2022.
