🧰💰 How fintech startups using stablecoins are advancing the payments industry

The use of digital assets helps modernize payment systems and drives development among traditional market players.

➡️ The key idea behind stablecoin development is to make money transfers as simple, fast, and inexpensive as sending text messages, according to the leadership of venture capital fund Verda Ventures. The fund has raised approximately USD 40 million and acquired minority stakes in 20 companies worldwide. Its portfolio includes Yellow Card, which specializes in payments in Africa, and Capa, which provides blockchain infrastructure services in Latin America.

➡️ The Rain group helps corporate clients connect digital assets with traditional payment channels, enabling them to integrate these capabilities into their own products and services. Rain has raised a total of USD 338 million in equity financing. Its clients include Western Union, MoneyGram, and entertainment company Live Nation. In October 2026, Rain announced the launch of a digital wallet that allows users to hold funds in stablecoins, spend them, and make transfers using cards issued by the company. Rain applied for a national trust charter, which would allow it to expand its asset custody activities.

➡️ Startup MassPay specializes in optimizing payouts to sellers on digital platforms and also processes payments for the online gambling and sports betting sectors. Its infrastructure brings together local payment systems, instant transfer services, and mobile wallets. MassPay has approximately 300 corporate clients, primarily in North America, and serves around 230 countries. The company processes tens of billions of dollars in payments annually; approximately 10% of its total payment volume is conducted in stablecoins.

➡️ Stablecoins are gradually evolving from an instrument used primarily in cryptocurrency markets into a practical component of payment infrastructure. Startups use them to accelerate settlements, expand the geographic reach of transfers, and improve access to financial services, while attracting venture capital and building partnerships with traditional market participants. However, widespread adoption depends not only on transaction speed and cost, but also on user experience, alignment with local payment habits, and clear regulatory frameworks. Therefore, the market’s future development will depend on the ability of new solutions to combine the advantages of blockchain with the requirements of the financial system and the needs of end users.
