☠️ Gazprombank🇷🇺 prepares to be disconnected from SWIFT🇺🇸
This was the last major Russian state bank that had avoided sanctions. The White House threatens to disconnect it permanently by the end of November.

▶️ What happened❓ — In the spring of 2023, Poland🇵🇱 first requested to include Gazprombank on the sanctions list. Later, members of the European Parliament proposed a similar measure, but neither Brussels nor Washington implemented the restrictions.

▶️ What will happen now❓

🟣Gazprombank will likely have to resort to alternative payment methods (such as cryptocurrencies and bridge banks), which will increase transaction costs and could generate distrust among its clients. However, the bank's credit and deposit options will remain, so not everything is lost.
🟣In the context of growing sanctions pressure, Chinese partners tend to show either resistance or intermittent cooperation. This could mean a disruption in the issuance of UnionPay cards🇨🇳 by Gazprombank, or something even worse.

▶️ What do we know so far❓ — By the end of October, Washington allowed operations related to energy transactions with Russian banks to continue. The general license will be valid until April 30, 2025.
