⚡️EU: The path to financial sovereignty and payment interoperability keeps moving forward

The EuroPA alliance (European Payments Alliance), which includes operators such as Bancomat (Italy🇮🇹), Bizum (Spain🇪🇸), MB WAY (Portugal🇵🇹, managed by SIBS), and Vipps MobilePay (Norway🇳🇴 and Denmark🇩🇰), has announced a strategic partnership with EPI Company (European Payments Initiative).

▶️While the broader goal is to strengthen Europe’s financial sovereignty, the immediate focus is on improving cross-border payment efficiency.

▶️The collaboration goes beyond person-to-person (#P2P) transfers, encompassing payments in physical and online stores.

▶️In this first phase, 15 countries will participate, collectively representing over 382 million people — about 84% of the EU population, including Norway.

▶️Currently, the alliance is in an exploratory phase, focused on defining the technical and operational frameworks needed for integration. This stage is expected to conclude before the end of the European summer.
