PayPal has announced its membership in the European Payments Council (EPC), the body responsible for developing and coordinating payment standards within the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA). The SEPA framework currently covers 41 countries.

๐Ÿ”ต Financial performance: PayPal's GAAP net income for the first quarter of 2026 totaled 1.11 billion USD, representing a 14% decrease compared with 1.29 billion USD during the same period of the previous year.

๐Ÿ”ต Market position: in Europe, PayPal operates as a regulated bank and serves 430 million active accounts worldwide. Its membership in the EPC will enable the company to contribute its expertise to the continued development of Europe's payments ecosystem.

๐Ÿ”ต Role within the EPC: as a member of the European Payments Council, PayPal will participate in the development of payment standards and discussions on interoperability, instant payments, fraud prevention, operational resilience and consumer experience. The appointment is also expected to strengthen the company's institutional presence and strategic position in the European payments market.
