⚠️EU: Coinbase to delist some stablecoins by year-end
Why❓ Because the industry in the region is preparing for stricter regulations.
➡️ The new cryptocurrency regulatory framework, known as the Markets in Crypto Assets Regulation (MiCA), introduced in early 2023, will take full effect in December this year.
➡️ Main requirements for stablecoins: transparency, liquidity, and consumer rights protection. To legally operate in the European market, the issuer must hold a license in at least one of the EEA countries.
➡️ Tether currently does not meet these requirements and will be delisted.
➡️ In November, Coinbase will offer European users the option to migrate to authorized issuers, such as USDC and EURC, issued by the U.S.🇺🇸 fintech Circle.
