⚠️ Disaster struck without warning… How scammers recruited Coinbase 🇺🇸
The U.S.-based crypto platform was hit by an attack that resulted in the theft of customer data and a potential loss of $400 million. Coinbase has officially offered a $20 million reward to anyone who provides information on those involved in the scheme.

🔠 For several months, a group of criminals contacted Coinbase’s international partners, attempting to bribe them in exchange for client information. The strategy worked.

🔠 Later, the attackers threatened to leak the stolen data unless the platform paid a $20 million ransom in bitcoin.

🔠 Coinbase refused to pay and alerted the authorities. However, the company may have to cover customer compensation costs estimated between $180 million and $400 million.

🔠 The breach affected less than 1% of active monthly users, but the reputational damage could be much greater.

🔠 Coinbase representatives stated that no passwords, private keys, funds, or Coinbase Prime accounts were compromised. The incident has been attributed solely to human error.
