☠️ Crypto service Coinsbuy🇵🇦 was hit by a cyberattack and lost USD 7.9 million

The incident occurred on August 9, with funds stolen from hot wallets being withdrawn simultaneously from the Ethereum and Tron networks.

➡️ The attackers subsequently began splitting and transferring the stolen assets through several exchange services, including FixedFloat, ChangeNOW, and BingX. Part of the funds was converted into Monero, a privacy-focused cryptocurrency.

➡️ However, some of the stolen funds were recovered. The Coinsbuy team, working together with cryptocurrency exchange ChangeNOW, managed to block a portion of the stolen assets, preventing them from being transferred further.

➡️ Due to the suspension of deposit and withdrawal operations, the gateway was unavailable for several hours, but all services have now been restored and are operating normally. Affected users received full compensation from the platform's own reserves.

➡️ The company also announced a USD 100,000 reward for information leading to the identification of those responsible for the attack, as well as an additional bonus for any information or assistance that helps recover the stolen funds.

➡️ Context: During the first half of 2026, 207 cryptocurrency theft incidents were recorded, more than twice as many as during the same period in 2025. However, total losses were significantly lower: approximately USD 972 million in 2026, compared with USD 2.3 billion during the same period a year earlier.
