⛔️ Crypto exchange HTX🇨🇳🇸🇨 has stopped serving Russian users
This is now the third major crypto platform in a week to take this step.
➡️ HTX has officially added Russia🇷🇺 to its list of prohibited jurisdictions in the latest published version of its user agreement. Russian customers are receiving notices requiring them to withdraw their assets within 7 business days, or face restrictions and account suspension.
➡️ HTX was included in the EU’s 21st sanctions package🇪🇺 in July 2026 because of its links to Russia. Despite this, the platform continued serving Russian users and even made structural changes reportedly intended to circumvent sanctions. However, after Bitget and MEXC announced almost simultaneously that they would stop serving Russian customers, HTX appears to have decided to follow suit. According to HTX’s official statement, however, notifications to Russian users began before the other platforms announced their restrictions.
➡️ Experts believe other major crypto exchanges could follow the example of HTX, Bitget, and MEXC in the near future, particularly OKX, KuCoin, and Bybit. OKX and KuCoin are especially vulnerable because they hold European licenses and have paid substantial fines in the United States🇺🇸 after admitting to allegations related to money laundering. Bybit would lose more than the others by leaving the Russian market, but it is gradually introducing restrictions affecting Russian banks and users.
