👀 Chileans 🇨🇱 Prefer Plastic Cards Or Mobile Banking

A recent study by McKinsey shows that the compatriots of Pablo Neruda and Augusto Pinochet are quite conservative... especially compared to their continental neighbors.

➡️ Preference for Plastic: 81% of respondents admit they prefer cards and physical payment terminals.

➡️ Debit Cards are the favorite: people say they help better control expenses (20%), and this payment method is more familiar (17%) and allows contactless payments (15%).

➡️ …but they also like credit cards: this is due to the possibility of installment payments (15%), lower interest rates (13%), loyalty programs (11%), higher credit limits (10%), and merchant networks with discounts (8%).

➡️ As for those who prefer mobile payments, their main motivations are access to promotions (20%) and cashback (20%), which is above average in Latin American countries.

➡️ An interesting trend is the gradual abandonment of cash (also quite unusual for the region). Only 13% of respondents said they prefer to pay in cash.

➡️ Note for the householder: the largest acquirers in Chile are Banco de Chile, Banco Santander, and BCI.
