⚡️Breaking: Milei’s government in Argentina 🇦🇷 eases financial controls on companies and citizens

On Friday, Decree 353/2025 was signed by President Javier Milei and Economy Minister Luis Caputo, aiming to “simplify and deregulate all procedures related to investments and asset acquisitions.”

This is a major change because payment operators will no longer be required to request personal data from individuals when paying with debit or credit cards, nor will they have to report it to regulators.
The Argentine Ministry of Economy posted the following:

▶️ Before: accreditation was required for:

➡️ Bank transactions starting from 1 million pesos (approx. 1,000 USD)

➡️ Transactions via digital wallets (from 2,000 USD)

➡️ ATM withdrawals of any amount

➡️ For cash purchases over 250 USD in retail stores, passport or ID was required

▶️ Now: the Financial Information Unit (UIF), the Federal Tax Agency (AFIP), and the Central Bank (BCRA) must relax their criteria:

➡️ In banks, only operations above 50,000 USD require accreditation (30,000 USD for businesses)

➡️ For e-wallets and transfers, the threshold rises to 50,000 USD

➡️ For ATMs — up to 10,000 USD without documentation

➡️ It’s no longer necessary to declare purchases of items like clothing or footwear. For used vehicles, no extra documents are needed either. For new vehicles, supporting documents are still required.

Note: USD values are calculated using the “blue” (parallel) exchange rate, which currently has a smaller gap with the official rate.

▶️ Important: This is not a tax amnesty. While businesses are not required to report transactions, AFIP can still investigate if deemed necessary.

▶️ When does it take effect? — Some changes apply from May 23, but regulators have 30 days to implement the rest.
