💣Brazil🇧🇷: the instant payment system Pix is close to displacing credit cards from e-commerce
Currently, according to surveys, Visa leads: 47% of consumers paid for their last online purchase with this card. However, Pix already stands at 45%, rapidly narrowing the gap.
The study is based on a survey conducted in December by Visa itself, with the participation of 1,521 respondents and a margin of error of 2.5%.
➡️ Why do credit cards still lead⁉️ The main factor in favor of cards is the possibility of installment payments. 53%of those who used a card indicated that their choice was driven precisely by this option.
Regarding installments:
➡️ 40% of respondents stated they are familiar with this mechanism.
➡️ 38% positively assessed the financial control it provides.
➡️ For online shoppers, this instrument is particularly relevant in high-value transactions.
➡️ Meanwhile, Pix is showing accelerated growth
➡️95% of Brazilians reported having used the system at least once for online purchases, and the satisfaction levelreached 78%, higher than the 74% recorded for credit cards.
➡️ Nevertheless, the rapid growth in the number of users has generated certain structural challenges. Thus, 62% of users reported having encountered fraud during the transaction process (by comparison, for cards the figure stands at 36%). In addition, the level of satisfaction with refund processes remains limited (only 61% expressed a positive opinion).
➡️ One of the main pain points is the need to leave the e-commerce environment to complete the payment in the banking app. In this context, 87% of respondents stated they would prefer to finalize the transfer within seconds without leaving the online store, and 70% said they would be willing to link their banking details directly with the store to streamline the process.
