The solution, called Pix by Nearby — the result of a sort of "triple alliance" — works on Android devices with NFC technology.

🫥 First, a bit of context: Brazil’s Central Bank is actively promoting contactless Pix payments… Unsurprisingly, since Pix is its “legitimate child.” Adoption by financial institutions is voluntary for now, but starting in 2026 it will become mandatory.

🫥 Also, Pix support in Google Pay goes beyond contactless: users can also pay via QR code or by manually entering a key.

🫥 To use Pix by Nearby, Neon clients must link their bank account to Google Pay. From there, the process is similar to using a card: open the Google Pay app, use biometric authentication, and tap the phone on the POS terminal (apparently, some e-commerce platforms also allow quick payments using a registered Pix key from the Neon account).

🫥 Neon, which began in 2016 focusing on low-income customers, has grown steadily and is now recognized among the “World’s Best Banks” by Forbes.
