🔝Brazil🇧🇷: Betting sites rank second in web traffic... or first, depending on how you look at it
According to data from SimilarWeb, a company specializing in digital traffic analysis, the increase in visits to betting sites is mainly attributed to the growing availability of licensed sportsbook apps on Google Play.
➡️ Currently, Brazil has 193 officially registered betting operators. However, many unlicensed platforms also operate in the country and are not included in the statistics provided by the Internet Steering Committee (CGI), which only tracks domains with the official “.bet.br” extension.
➡️ More than 70% of Brazilians who placed bets this year did so via unlicensed platforms. Surveys show that most users don’t see this as an issue — mainly because illegal operators offer better incentives and bonuses.
➡️Relevant fact: in just six months of regulation, more than 11,000 illegal domains have been blocked. Still, the unlicensed market is estimated to represent between 41% and 51% of all activity in the country.
