🌟Belarus🇧🇾: first two crypto banks registered

The registration process took more than six months.

➡️ In the High-Tech Park (HTP), the crypto banks were registered as residents in accordance with the presidential decree dated January 16, 2026.

➡️ The decree defines a crypto bank as a joint-stock company that uses cryptocurrency, in addition to conducting standard financial operations. A crypto bank must be included in the National Bank's register and hold HTP resident status, under a special legal regime that permits operations involving digital assets.

➡️ Context: Belarus, with the president's support, seeks to develop cryptocurrency payments, while EU authorities are gradually tightening the sanctions regime. Since August 25, citizens and residents of the country have been prohibited from owning or managing crypto companies under MiCA. Against the backdrop of sanctions, the Central Bank of Belarus is expanding cooperation with its Russian counterparts to establish an operational cross-border framework for digital asset transactions.
